The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA) is making major changes to the Medicare Part D program, affecting over 77% of the entire Medicare population.*

This is an unprecedented year for both RETENTION and GROWTH in the Medicare market. JSA’s got you covered with our tools and resources to help you capitalize on the opportunity surrounding the biggest change to Medicare since the introduction of Part D in 2006!

GET READY for AEP!

While this AEP will be a busy one, there are still some must-do tasks that haven’t changed. Start with these essential first-steps:

  1. Complete your 2025 Certification. Start with AHIP or NABIP, then complete each carrier’s specific product training.

  2. Add non-contracted carriers. Since we won’t know which plans are going to cover our clients best until we can quote on 10/1, it’s important to add any available carriers in your area that you are not appointed with. Trust us, you do not want to try and add a carrier in October or November, as many are inundated with new appointments, and you run the risk of not being approved until after December 7th.

  3. Attend carrier rollouts. Unlike the “first look” documents, the carrier rollouts are a great way to get more information about your local options to help determine what the hot plans will be in 2025. Keep an eye out for invites direct from the carriers.

VIDEO MESSAGING

RETENTION & GROWTH

With the disruption brought on by the IRA, you need to have a solid plan to retain your current book of business and create opportunities for growth. JSA has created the AEP Action Plan to help you navigate both avenues this selling season with plenty of best practices, must-have tools and useful materials.

RETENTION

JSA’s MyHealthPlan tool, combined with RetireFlo, is the perfect combination you need to efficiently reach and retain your current clients. Follow these steps to maximize your retention efforts and save time this AEP!

Step 1: Add Your Clients to MyHealthPlan

COVID revolutionized the world of digital apps—the IRA is going to revolutionize the world of multi-carrier quoting & enrollment tools. To set yourself up for success in your retention efforts, now’s the time to add all your Medicare clients to JSA’s MyHealthPlan system. Need help? Consider hiring a support person or bringing on a licensed-only agent (LOA) to load your current book of business into MyHealthPlan.

Step 2: Set up your RetireFlo Account

RetireFlo is here to save the AEP! With a simple survey, your clients can update their own doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and prescriptions in their MyHealthPlan account, saving about 15-30 minutes per client this AEP. Plus, with JSA’s exclusive discount, you’ll get access to this must-have tool for $29.99 per month or $299 per year! You can find discount and sign up instructions right on the MyHealthPlan page in the JSA Agent Resource Center.

Step 3: Send RetireFlo Surveys

Once your clients are loaded into MyHealthPlan and your RetireFlo surveys are set up, it’s time to get in touch with your clients. We suggest sending an email or letter (templates below) to notify your clients that a survey is on the way—then follow up by sending out the surveys a few days later. We’ve found that it’s best to send via both email and text, so make sure you have your client’s correct contact information loaded in their MyHealthPlan profile.

Step 4: Schedule AEP Appointments

As your clients complete their RetireFlo surveys, you’ll be notified via email. Once received, it’s the perfect time to schedule their individual one-on-one appointment during the AEP. Have you considered utilizing an online scheduling service to help make this easier for you? We suggest checking out Calendly to see how it can revolutionize your appointment scheduling and free up more of your time.

GROWTH

This AEP, and for years to come, present an amazing opportunity to reach more Medicare beneficiaries to help them find their best-fit health coverage. Whether you have a current book of business or are just getting started, here are some tips & tricks and resources to help you GROW.

Host Educational Seminars

There’s a lot of buzz about Medicare and the IRA in the news, but many beneficiaries are in store for big surprises if they haven’t been paying attention. This is a great opportunity to spread awareness of the upcoming changes and to invite them to a seminar. Utilize our IRA Meeting flyers and postcards, and bundle it with our 2025 Medicare Part D basics presentation.

Spread the Word

Have a list of Medicare prospects and looking to get their attention? We’ve created non-meeting versions of our flyer and postcard to help educate your leads and get more appointments. Have happy customers? Give them a handful of referral cards to share with their friends, alerting them to the importance of checking their coverage this year.

Partner with a Pharmacy

With all these Part D changes, pharmacies could see a lot of confusion in January if their customers haven’t reviewed their prescription coverage. We’ve created an introduction letter you can send to your local pharmacies that’s designed to educate them about the upcoming benefit changes, inform them about your services, and offer to partner up to help build trust with their customers. We also have a flyer you can leave behind for the pharmacy to display, designed to capture customers’ attention and inform them about the Part D changes as well.

You can find all these templates and more on the JSA ProShop Plus, with more customization options, social media post options, and the ability to send directly to your database of prospects.
